NCS forum rules

The NCS forums have grown tremendously and we thank all of you for being a part of this growing community. But as we grow it is important that we do so responsibly. As such we have laid out a number of guidelines for members to follow.

General Conduct- Please remember these things:

* First and foremost, this is a MOTORCYCLE forum.

* All members are REQUIRED to read the rules! If you are in conflict with the rules, or simply don't understand something outlines in the forum rules, don't hesitate to ask for clarification.

* Everyone is a guest in this community. No one deserves to be here more than anyone else

* Treat everyone with courtesy and respect at all times.

* There is never, ever any reason or excuse for poor manners or inappropriate behavior.

You are free to voice your opinions at any time, and we are free to ask (or force) you to leave as well. As a guest in this house, we expect the common courtesy, and common respect, associated with being a guest.

While wide latitude of content is allowed, the forum is strictly moderated. If you believe you can say anything, anywhere you want, no matter how vile it may be, and no consequences should apply to you, this forum may not be for you.

If you believe that the moderation policies are too strict, do not complain to the Moderators, or publicly, about it. You will accomplish nothing. No one is forcing you to be here, the moderation policies are what they are. Generating negativity is pointless, and not tolerated.

IF you have a genuine concern, you may PM or email a Mod. If you are prepared to discuss things in a civilized manner, we are always willing to listen. If you're going to just complain and whine, we will simply point out that you are a guest in this community, and nobody is forcing you to be here.

Things To Do, Not To Do

* Consider the topic you are thinking of posting. If it seems like it may be a common question, do a Search first. The Search button can be located in the top right-corner of the forum screen. More often than not, it has been covered quite thoroughly already, and you may find the answers you are looking for. If you can’t find an answer to what you’re looking for, then by all means ask. This really cuts down on forum clutter, and makes future searches easier for everyone.

* The Civil Indecency section of the forum is for off topic conversation such as legal issues, (If you got a ticket and want to figure out the best way to go about it, etc...), talk about guns, and anything Not Safe for Work such as porn. If any of these topics are posted in another part of the forum, it WILL be moved to CI without a redirect posting.

* No political or religious discussions are permitted on NCS. This is due to the volatile nature of these subjects which usually degrade into something far other than intended. If you want to talk politics, or discuss differing religious views, do it somewhere else. There is a degree of latitude here, but if a Moderator sees that a topic is getting heated, do not be surprised to see that it gets deleted. Habitual offenders will be warned first, and then banned. Again, this is a MOTORCYCLE forum. You can take these discussions elsewhere and leave the rest of us to talk about bikes.

* Forum spamming is strictly prohibited.

* Do not delete any notes in your posts made by an Admin or Mod.

* Wringers and Trolls are not permitted on the forums. i.e. Anyone registering on the forums, with the sole purpose or agenda of "acting as, or like a salesperson" or to post anything resembling an "ad / advertisement" or "infomercial" WILL BE BANNED IMMEDIATELY. All new members are subject to a probationary period, and are completely subject to the interpretation & discretion of the Admins and Moderators.

* Do not post negative comments in classified listings. If you have nothing to add, then add nothing. If you have a comment based on personal experience with an item, then this is ok to post. Just because you don't like the price of an item, does not give you the right to appraise it for the seller. These types of posts will be removed.

* If an Admin or Moderator tells you not to do something, it doesn’t make any difference what anyone else does, EVER. We don’t catch everything all the time. If you do something you’ve been specifically told NOT to do, and then do it again you will be removed from the site. There is no valid justification for disrespecting or ignoring a Moderators authority. Any flaming directed at a Mod will result in an immediate ban.

Forum Rules:

Failure to honor the rules or general conduct guidelines will be met with an immediate warning, followed on the second offense by a 3 day ban. After that a 7 day ban will be issued. If you are banned more than twice in a 12 month period you will permanently lose your membership.

A minimum of 50 posts to sell things in classifieds, unless you have staff approval.

Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed. If abuses are recognized by one user with multiple accounts then all warnings/bans will be combined for that user.

Also while these rules cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any actions we deem appropriate to ensure these forums are not disrupted or abused in any way.

Advertising Services and Solicitation

NCS does carry local sponsors and they should always be taken into account when making purchase decision. However, other advertisements ARE allowed in the appropriate section. If you find a deal that beats one of our sponsors prices, give them a chance to beat said price prior to announcing that you found a better deal "here".

If the need is still there to post this special (the local sponsor cannot price match or beat the special) those posts should be placed into the General Moto section, and NOT in the vender's.

If you choose to use NCS as a business venue please be aware that you may be restricted from conducting business via NCS or have your access to the site restricted if your business practices are determined to be less than honorable.

Links in Sigs

Links in signatures are allowed as long as the link sends a user to a legitimate web site or service, any spamming through NCS will not be tolerated.

Avatars
We hate to do it, we really do. We'd love for you guys to be as free as you would like to be. However from now on we can't have any fully nude Avatars. Suggestive like PGoods ass shaking AV is fine, but we can't have boobs and shiz all up in some AV's. I understand that we have the choice to block avatars and signatures and we did that to protect the folks at work, however picture this scenario that cbgixxer has brought forth.

sitting in your office, scrolling through NCS as usual... someone walks in, and JUST as you scroll down, there is a new avatar.. and Suzie the 50 year old Sunday school teacher/accountant in your office is talking to you..

and BAM there's TITTIES

she freaks, and you end up in HR, and might get fired.....

Animated avatars are allowed.

Signature Size Limits

At this point in our forum we are still fairly loosely moderating the size of the signatures used by everyone. If they become an issue size limits will be set.

These rules will be ever changing to allow for more growth and better accommodations to more and more users and their comfort levels on NCS. If you find an issue with a post, a user, or anything in general, please find someone on our staff to assist in the matter.

We have a product review section...

http://ncsportbikes.com/reviews.php

If you guys would like to write reviews of products that you think might benefit the other folks on the site, and would like your review posted up for the world to see and read, pm me or one of the other mods and we will get it up and running!

NCS has a hidden contact section.

It's a great way to keep in contact with fellow members and plan rides!

If you want to be able to see the contacts section, you need to be a part of the "Verified NCSrs" Usergroup.

groupcp.php

How do I join? you might ask... Its simple.

At the top of the forum you will see a link named "Usergroups", click it. You will see the admin/closed group, then the verified group. Click details on the NCSr's group, then click add me (or whatever it says). If you dont have the forum in a day or two, PM either myslef or one of the MODS and we will verify you into the gang, and you will be able to see "Contacts" just as before.

Just another way we are doing what we can to make you guys comfortable!

NWS material is only available to those in the Civil Indecency group, which you can join the same way as the verified group

Free NCS personal email available!!!

We have personal NCS email addresses to give away.

For instance it will be: YourName@NCSportbikes.com

if you are uncomfortable posting your real name then you can PM me your real name if you want, or if you want your SN as your prefix to your email addy thats fine. Just post I WANT ONE. Please PM any of the mods or admin of you want one, and we will let you know availability.

Please help support NCS!

I don't envy the job of the mods but do applaud their efforts here. A small forum that I would frequent in Chicago went downhill IMO because mods didn't step in to curtail topics that were political or religious. Group rides had bad vibes when people on two sides of an issue showed up.

Sadly we've learned in our divided country that almost anything can be politicized, so trying to determine what is political isn't easy and of course, even reasonable people will disagree. IMO curating this site is no different than curating any collection you care about so if the folks who care about this forum want to curate the site so it's a collection of topics they deem appropriate, I support that.

Thanks Ron. We're just trying to keep a fairly positive site with mostly motorcycle content now. The off-topic conversations have just created a lot of unnecessary problems.
