This weekend was insane! My racer I was helping was fellow TPM coach and now AMA Pro racer #804 Patricia Fernandez SuperSport class had a great race. She finished 28 out of 40 on Saturday. And not as well today. She got hit by another rider who fucked up bad and wiped a few riders out. It was a crash fest all weekend. But she finished both races on 2 wheels! Got to talk with Josh Hayes, Josh Herrin and Roger Hayden in the pits during the races. Eric her suspension guy is Elena Myers crew chief. Its Been a long week. Def gave me an inside look at what to expect at my AMA debut next year. And what to budget. The cost spent this weekend was around $7000. HOLY CRAP!!!! But I'll wait till you all watch the races before I spoil everything. But I will say it was a crash fest in all races this weekend!

My friend Allison. Her husband Dan made his debut to. He was on the red Honda who high sided nasty in the grass. He got air lifted out. I was in 5 place or close to it when he went out in the SuperSport race.

Wait, I'm confused... you were in fifth place so you were out on the track for an AMA race? I thought your debut was going to be next year?

Ahh. Couldn't tell if there was a CCS race right after AMA, or if you found a way to out on the grid early.

You anxious for next year, having seen it all first-hand and up close?

Heck yeah. I'm very excited. Can't wait to give it a shot. It's crazy to see it then even better when you can be a part of it. It's been a goal of mine for a Long time. It's just now becoming a realty and im about to get the opportunity. It is nothing like a club race. But to say you have practiced, qualified, and raced on a grid and same race level as all the big names out there is awesome all on its own.

28th is a great race? I would think that top 10 would be comsidered good and top 5 great. At least she is out there giving it a go. $7000 for the weekend though? FACK!

top 10 would be nice but look how much $ is in a top 10 bike. She has only ridden for a few yrs. So yes 28th is good for a "privateer"

She did her first track day EVER in April of 2010, and qualified for an AMA Supersport race basically two years later, then went on to finish 28th of 40 during a crash-fest weekend, ahead of a bunch of more experienced riders (by YEARS). So yeah, I'd say that's a great fucking race, something that not I or maybe anybody in this board can lay claim to.

...another fool on his phone.

Fred is correct. I don't know of anyone who has done this. She did great. Stepped up and played with the big boys. It was neat to watch and be a part of

Patricia was around the same times as Chris Starke. I recently bought a set of wheels through him and talked about the then upcoming race. It's quite an effort... and $$$$. He is the one who was clipped at the end of Race 2 which red flagged it. He said he lost some skin but was OK. That was unfortunate.

Congrats to you all! That's good stuff. Thanks.

Matt

Chris spent a lot of time in our pit. Really great guy. He said he wanted the one race and now he is done with it. It was scary to see him get hit. Wasn't his fault though IMO.
